"Nenette", a French documentary about an orangutan with the same name living in Parisian Zoo, attracted a lot of viewers during its screening at XXI FX Platinum, Jakarta, last Saturday.
This screening was a part of the French Film Festival 2011 which started from April 8th and will be held until May 1st, 2011. Besides in Jakarta, this annually held festival will also take place in other 5 major cities in Indonesia: Bandung, Jogjakarta , Surabaya, Balikpapan, and Denpasar. “Nenette” was one of two documentaries out of 21 featured films this year.
Attending the screening was Miss Indonesia 2010, Nadine Alexandra Dewi Ames, who is also the spokesperson for Borneo Orangutan Survival Foundation. Nadine was a special guest in this year’s festival, following her appearance the day before for Mr. Philippe Zeller, the French Ambassador, during the festival’s opening ceremony at Gedung Usmar Ismail, Friday, April 8th, 2011.
“I am deeply interested with orangutans, for since I was a kid we saw how funny of them and how similar they behave compare to us humans. We need to pay more concern over their situations right now. Therefore, ever since I was elected Miss Indonesia, that (to support orangutan conservation) has become one of my mission,” said Nadine during a post-screening press conference.
Nadine vows to address the issue of conservation of orangutans and their habitat when she represents Indonesia in the Miss Universe Contest in Sao Paulo, Brazil, next August to September.
The viewers gave positive responses to the documentary screening. Saoudap, a French nationality said, “We love nature, we care about orangutan.”
